Experienced and Proven Team

Our histology team brings deep scientific and technical expertise, with each team member contributing more than 15 years of histology-related and research experience. This expertise is reflected not only in the quality of our slides, but also in our understanding of the study objectives, tissue biology, and specialized collection requirements.

Comprehensive Necropsy and Tissue Collection Expertise

One of our greatest strengths is our flexibility and expertise in tissue collection. Unlike many organizations that only receive pre-collected specimens, the Franklin Biolabs team routinely performs necropsies across multiple species, including mice, rats, rabbits, and nonhuman primates.

Because we are directly involved in necropsy and tissue collection, we can accommodate highly customized collection schemes, specialized trimming requests, unique preservation methods, perfusion procedures, and challenging tissue types. This capability is particularly valuable for gene therapy, biodistribution, CNS, ocular, and other specialized studies where collection techniques can significantly influence downstream results.

Our hands-on involvement allows us to work closely with study teams to ensure tissue collection protocols align with scientific objectives and downstream analytical requirements.

Commitment to Quality

We maintain exceptionally high standards throughout the histology workflow. From tissue collection and fixation through embedding, sectioning, staining, and slide review, our focus is on producing high-quality specimens that support accurate, reliable scientific interpretation.

Quality is built into every step of the process, helping ensure consistency, reproducibility, and confidence in study results.

Tianying Jiang, MD PhD

Histology Core Director

Dr. Tianying Jiang earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Temple University in 2006, following her medical training in China. She also holds certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Before joining Franklin Biolabs, Tianying spent over five years as the Operations Director of the Pathology Core at GTP. Her background includes two years of postdoctoral training in Dr. Carl June’s laboratory, along with over a decade of histopathology expertise at UPenn’s Cancer Histology Core and Gene Therapy Program.

In her current role, Tianying oversees daily operations of the Histology Core, collaborates with multifunctional teams to monitor studies, and ensures adherence to regulatory standards and timely project delivery.
